HTML5 is a markup language used for structuring and presenting content on the World Wide Web. It was finalized, and published, on 28 October 2014 by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).

You can’t imagine yourself without HTML5 as it offers humongous features such as modern browser support, structure specific tags, visual elements like rounded corners are now built in, drag and drop interactive, new video, audio and canvas elements, SVG animations, and many more.

At BestDevList we conducted a search and compiled a list of 20 Best HTML5 Tools which we believe are best and useful for simplifying your development tasks. Following tools come with several features and can help you with your projects to produce useful and innovative web applications.

1. Hyhyhy

Hyhyhy is a tool for creating nice looking HTML5 presentations. It comes with a broad range of features: Markdown, Nested slides, Math typesetting, Compatibility, Syntax highlighter, Javascript API, Convenient skeleton. It supports Firefox 2+, Safari 3+, Opera 9.64+, Chrome, IE9, IE10, IE11.

2. Snap Tomato

Snap Tomato is an easy-to-use app for testing HTML5 on any device. Just open up the editor and the real time preview in separate tabs, and start coding.

3. Quintus

Quintus is a simple and easy-to-learn JavaScript HTML5 game engine for mobile and desktop games. It’s thoroughly documented, and there are plenty of demos and examples to check out.

4. Slides

A tool to make and present HTML5 slides. It also supports mathematical equations using MathJax. This module provides CLI for making slides. The properties are used for generating title slide and setting up meta tags of the output HTML file.

5. Sitecake

Sitecake is an easy to use CMS (Content Managament System) for small websites, with a WYSIWYG, drag&drop editor. A standard web hosting packet (a web server and PHP 5.4+) is all you need to install and use it. Sitecake reads, modifies and saves changes in regular HTML files. No PHP or template language knowledge required. All changes are saved directly in HTML page, all images in file system. Once you finish editing you still have a static website.

Ideal Forms is the ultimate framework for building and validating responsive HTML5 forms. It has just released V3, which is smaller, faster, and more extensible. It supports On the spot validation, Fully adaptive (adapts to the container, no css media queries needed), Keyboard support, Custom checkboxes/radios and file inputs, Custom seamless jQuery UI datepicker, Support for third party extensions, Localization.

7. TimeJump

TimeJump lets you add deep links to your HTML5 audio and video podcasts. It’s already being used on some ground-breaking podcasts, including ShopTalk and The ATX Web Show. It was created by Paravel and Chris Coyier.

8. HTML Minifier

HTML Minifier is a highly configurable, well-tested, Javascript-based HTML minifier, with lint-like capabilities. At its core, minifier relies on HTML parser by John Resig. John’s parser was capable of handling quite complex documents, but would sometimes trip on some of the more obscure structures. For example, doctype declarations were not understood at all.

9. Brunch

Brunch is an assembler for building elegant HTML5 applications, with a simple but powerful build process and pipeline. Use whatever frameworks, libraries, programming, stylesheet and templating engines, and backend technology you like—it’s completely agnostic to all of them.

10. Stitches

Stitches is an HTML5 sprite sheet generator. Simple drag and drop image files into the space below and click “Generate” to create a sprite sheet and stylesheet. Stitches uses a couple of HTML5 APIs, and it is only currently compatible with the latest versions of Chrome and Firefox. However, it does not work on IE9.
