Finally, it was decided to settle with a segway.

The term ‘Hoverboard’ was first used in a Science fiction novel that was written by MK Joseph for defining a skateboard-like device which used to float over the ground. Now when this self-balancing device came to the market it was recognized as a wheeled scooter. Then in the year 1996, this self-balancing scooter was registered as ‘Hoverboard’. Though Marty MC Fly came out with a new name for this device as ‘self-balancing electric scooters’ but the name ‘Hoverboard’ mainly got popular in the media.
